DNA analysis for your dog
Responsible animal breeding is based on many factors, two of which are health & fitness and - in the case of hereditary diseases and traits linked to this - kinship and genetics. That is why we have been offering pedigree and health analysis in the Breed Archives for a long time.
DNA analyses also show the actual diversity compared to mathematical formulas used to measure e.g. the inbreeding coefficient based only on pedigree data (learn more in our blog post about the importance of pedigree analysis in breeding). Therefore, analysis of mitochondrial and microsatellite DNA are becoming increasingly popular and important. To support precise and sustainable breeding choices we are happy to announce our partnership with Feragen, a certified laboratory for genetic veterinary diagnostics in Austria.
Feragen's DogCheck analyses your dog for up to 220 genetic diseases with just one DNA sample. You gain valuable insight into its genes and important information on metabolism, immune system, organs and diversity for health care and breeding planning. As a user of The Breed Archive you benefit from our partnership with Feragen with a 5% discount on every purchase in the Feragen shop - follow this link to directly apply the discount.
If you own a breeder subscription on one of our archives you'll even get a 10% discount. Go to your dog's archive and find the link to Feragen on every dog's profile page.
As an additional feature and for your comfort we are also planning to support the direct transfer of your dog's health test results into the archive in the future.
