Breeder List

As many of you have already noticed, we have added a new feature to The Breed Archive in the past few weeks: the Breeder List.

This is a dedicated, modern overview page for all breeders in our archive, with the option to filter by country and/or search by breeder name or kennel name.

Since we also manage a lot of historical data in The Breed Archive - as a real archive should - we wanted to make it easier for users to find recent breeders of their favourite breed. Therefore, by default, the overview is limited to those breeders who have had a litter in the recent past (specifically in the last 5 years).

Of course, we have also responded to the numerous user feedback and have now taken into account your wishes to be able to search for older breeders as well. You can now use the recent breeders/all breeders switch to query the list of breeders according to your needs.

Search and filter

You can filter the list of breeders by a specific country in which the breeder is based. You can also search by breeder name or kennel name. You only need to type three letters and you will immediately receive all suggestions that match. As you type, the search results will update instantly, showing results based on what you’ve entered.

The new Breeder List is sorted by the most recent litter, with breeders who have a dedicated breeder page given priority. This makes it easier to find active breeders at a glance.

We are also displaying the profile photos of the users if they are linked to their person page.

Find dogs by owner

After replacing the person search with the new breeder list, some of you were missing the option to find dogs by their owner. This is now again possible with the improved dog search, available to all logged in users. You can search for dogs by the name of the owner (or breeder) too. We have also improved the country selection and display the most frequently used countries for your breed at the top to allow faster selection.

We hope these features open up new possibilities for you – and we’re just as excited to explore the breeder list ourselves!
