Meet the Siberian Husky
The active and handsome Siberian Huskies have recently joined the Breed Archive platform.
Siberians Huskies are a landrace breed originally from the Chukchi Peninsula of eastern Siberia. They were brought to Alaska in the early 1900's‚ as working sled dogs that excelled at sled dog racing.
Leonard Seppala and his dogs, including Togo and Balto, are famous for their role in the "Great Serum Run" bringing diphtheria antitoxin to Nome in 1925. The "Last Great Race", the Iditarod, an annual long-distance sled dog race between Anchorage and Nome, is based on the serum run.
Siberian Huskies are well known for their many striking colours and their beautiful eyes ranging in colour from dark brown to pale blue.
